Den Europæiske Filmhøjskole


European Film College offers one of the world's best foundation film courses and accepts students from all over the world. It is a residential school, and both students and teachers live on campus.

Subjects & themes

An 8 1/2 months intensive film course (runs from late August to early May), where the students can learn directing, acting, producing, scriptwriting, documentary, cinematography, editing and sound. 

The school accepts students from all over the world, and all teaching and communication is in English. 

European Film College has 9 professional teachers employed, teaching all the major disciplines of film making. During the 8 1/2 months the students also receive teaching and lectures from more than 20 guest teachers from the Danish and international film business.

European Film College has a fully equipped 300 m2 film studio, a large 3D digital cinema (209 seats), a student cinema (45 seats), up-to-date HD camera and editing equipment, a film library with more than 4000 titles and much more...

Practical information

120 students are admitted every year from all over the world, half of them Danish.

Students have to be 18 years of age and be able to speak and understand English. Apart from working with the craft, students are also expected to do kitchen and cleaning duties as a part of the classical tradition within the Danish folk high school concept.

All 120 students live on campus. Most students share a room two by two (a Danish and an international student) but private rooms are also available.

The teachers are all recruited from the professional production environment and also represent different countries.

The cost for the 8 1/2 month program is 85.000 DKK. This includes tuition fee, a student trip, commodation, food and the use of all film facilities. There is an additional fee of 5.000 DKK for a material account and a deposit of 2.000 DKK. 

European Film College is located beautilfully in the small town Ebeltoft (eastern Jutland), right by the sea. It is a residential school that accomodates 120 students, most of the teachers and the prinicipal. 

Nearest major town is Aarhus (45 km).

International airport only 30 minutes away.

Sports centre (with a gym and a swimming pool) only 10 minutes walk from the school.

Shopping opportunities 15 minutes walk from the school.
